Your co-op connected to the community
As vital as the power of electricity is to our communities, it’s far from the only connection we have to you. Commitment to community is one of our principles, and caring is the cooperative way.
We invested in the future of our communities again this year by awarding $60,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors. We all benefit from the success of these students, whether they choose to make their mark across the country, around the world, or back in their home towns.
Fourth graders at Hinckley Elementary School learned about the importance of trees on Arbor Day with help from our Forestry Services staff and arborists from Lake States Tree Service. We’ve shared information about electrical safety, energy conservation and renewable energy with students in several classrooms this past school year. Our sponsorship helped Braham eighth graders spend a day at the Audubon Center of the North Woods learning about sustainable energy and the environment.
Employees, members and park staff again teamed up for Project GreenTouch at Pattison State Park in Superior, WI and Father Hennepin State Park in Isle. Volunteers accomplished much-needed projects at both parks, just in time for the start of the busy summer season.
