Operation Round Up - July 2017

The following grants were awarded to local organizations in July 2017.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

A Place For You, Pine City: $6,000 for the purchase of materials needed to replace the entire east wall of its facility because it has decayed and slipped off its foundation.

Foley Fire Department: $7,500 to assist with the purchase of a set of eDraulic Extrication Rescue Tools, including a cutter, spreader, two-stage ram and power adapter (commonly called the Jaws of Life tools).

Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit: $1,500 to help purchase a new K9 to replace K9 Yazz. Funding will also go toward replacing K9 equipment and supplies.

Solon Springs Fire Department: $2,300 for the purchase of new fire hose to replace outdated and out-of-service hose.

EDUCATION AND YOUTH

Mille Lacs County Operation Community Connect: $1,000 for the purchase of children’s winter boots.

Pine Technical and Community College, Pine City: $10,000 to assist with the purchase of a mobile welding training lab.

ENVIRONMENT

Audubon Center of the North Woods, Sandstone: $3,800 for the purchase of 88 gallons of exterior paint and to assist with the purchase of a kitchen package consisting of a refrigerator, range, dishwasher and microwave for the naturalist intern house.

Established in 1997, the ORU Trust has put more than $1.5 million to work in local communities. With gifts ranging from one penny to 99 cents per month, participating members have a convenient way to pool their resources for the benefit of the greater community. The average contribution is around $6 per year, and the maximum annual contribution is $11.88.
