January 2018 Grants
The Operation Round Up Trust Board met on January 22 and awarded the following grants:
COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Mille Lacs County DAC, Inc., Milaca: $3,000 for the purchase of energy-efficient appliances. DAC educates 125 adults with disabilities in life skills, community and employment.
Pokegama Lake Association, Pine City, $1,000 to help with costs for the association’s Fresh Water Fair, an annual event which teaches students how to conserve and maintain clean water.
True Friends, Annandale, $1,000 to assist families with fees for the camp, which serves children and adults with disabilities.
Community Service award total: $5,000
EDUCATION AND YOUTH
East Central High School Rachel’s Challenge, Finlayson, $2,000 to train school staff and students in implementation of the Rachel’s Challenge program.
Faith Christian School, Foreston, $3,000 for the purchase of new lockers and a school bell system.
Hinckley/Finlayson Elementary School, Hinckley, $1,000 to help pay tuition expenses for the sixth grade students’ trip to Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center.
Husky P.A.C.K., Isle, $500 to use toward the purchase of classroom STEAM education materials.
Pine City Public Schools, $2,000 to help with the purchase of upgraded fitness equipment.
St Mary’s Early Learning Academy, Pine City, $2,500 to help with upgrades to kitchen facilities and purchase of indoor playground equipment.
Willow River Post Prom, $1,000 for entertainment and meal expenses at the post-prom party.
