ECE's Annual Meeting held April 23
“Keeping you moving” despite social distancing
To help slow the spread of COVID-19, our 84th annual meeting was held online April 23, via live video broadcast, with President/CEO Steve Shurts and Board Chair Linda Laitala at the helm.
With “Energy to Keep You Moving” as the theme, Steve welcomed viewers to his last annual meeting. He recognized Tri Lakes Community Center in Superior, WI, as the winner of the 2019 Touchstone Energy Community Award and announced the Power Up Scholarship recipients.
Linda Laitala took a moment to share Steve’s impact on the cooperative. “Over the last ten years, he has lived the cooperative values through the lens of servant leadership,” she stated. “His commitment to transparency has helped create an upbeat, approachable culture for employees, directors, and members.”
In his executive report, Steve highlighted the successes of last year, including power reliability during the January 2019 polar vortex, no residential rate increase, the largest amount of capital credits returned to date, and the cooperative’s return of margins as a credit to your cost of basic on bills due in January 2020.
“You, our members, keep us on track by staying involved and offering feedback,” he said. “Thank you for caring about your cooperative’s success. We are here to serve you and have the energy to keep your life moving.”
