ECE is your cooperative, and you get a slice of the pie
ECE will return $2.9 million to members this fall in the form of a Capital Credits refund. You’re receiving a refund because you’re more than just a customer; you are an owner of this cooperative, and you share in its success.
Most members who have been with the cooperative for more than one year will see a bold blue line on the billing statement that says, “Capital Credits Refund,” designating the amount of your refund. Your bill will be reduced by the amount shown on this line.
Capital Credits are allocated to you each year based primarily on your kilowatt-hour use and cost of basic service. The allocated dollars are put into your Capital Credits account, which we use to build and maintain our electric system. The board of directors determines annually if there will be a refund, and if so, what portion of your Capital Credits can be refunded.
Members who have moved off the ECE system may receive a Capital Credits refund check at the mailing address we have on file. That’s why we encourage former members to keep their address up to date with the co-op and why we ask for help in locating former members.
