ECE sends local students to Washington, D.C.

Adam Herwig, Mora, and Kim Barthelemy, Foley, capped their high school careers with a trip they’ll remember forever, the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.

ECE has sponsored local students on the Youth Tour since 1965, in keeping with our commitment to Cooperative Principle 5, Education, Training and Information. Adam and Kim were part of a record-setting delegation of 1,800 teens from around the country who participated in the tour June 10-15.

“I learned more about the involvement of cooperatives in each of our communities and the great opportunities they provide.”  ~ Kim Barthelemy

In addition to visiting our nation’s famous memorials and museums, the students met with Senators Klobuchar and Franken and Congressmen Rick Nolan, Collin Peterson, Jason Lewis, Tom Emmer and Tim Walz. They learned about American history and government and how the electric cooperative movement changed life in rural areas.

“The whole trip was an experience I will never forget.”  ~ Adam Herwig
