Cooperative Principle 6: Cooperation among cooperatives
We’re here to provide safe, reliable electricity today because 81 years ago, our predecessors recognized the value of working together. They embraced the cooperative spirit and with it the principle that makes us strong and efficient: cooperation among cooperatives.
Principle No. 6 means we help other co-ops get the lights back on for their members in the aftermath of major storms, and we can count on them for help when nature strikes our system.
Less visible but equally important is our participation in a strong state and national cooperative network. Led by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), the Minnesota Rural Electric Association (MREA) and the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association (WECA), we work diligently with legislators to keep your electricity safe, reliable and affordable.
Every day, across the state and across the nation, electric co-ops share ideas, tackle challenges, collaborate on training, and partner with our members to build vibrant communities. We know cooperation works; it’s why we’re here today.
