The annual meeting is an important co-op tradition
This year, ECE is 81 years young. We’re excited to be part of an industry dominated by innovation, yet we’re living our principles and honoring our traditions, not the least of which is the annual meeting.
The pioneers who started our electric co-op in 1936 knew it would be important to stay connected to the people who received service. Holding an annual meeting was one way they did that, and we believe it’s just as important today.
In the early years, many members played a direct role in forming the cooperative, and they treasured their ability to participate in its operation. Electricity changed their lives. Members packed their annual meetings to learn how their co-op fared, to vote for directors to represent them on the board, and to enjoy fun and fellowship.
Today, we value your engagement as much as ever, but understand the limits on your time. We’re a co-op for today’s busy world and a time when electricity is no longer a novelty. Our annual meeting is shorter and focused on the business highlights of the past year. We announce the director election results that evening and answer any questions you may have. It’s interesting, it’s inviting and it’s integral to the cooperative way. The coffee, of course, is always ready, and no get-together is complete without food.
We hope you’ll join us Thursday, April 20 for an important co-op tradition, your 81st annual meeting.
