In keeping with a tradition
that began nearly 50 years ago, ECE sent
local students to Washington, D.C. as part of the
Rural Electric Youth Tour.
Hailey Meyer, a junior at Foley High School, and
Carl Cronin, a senior at Milaca High School, joined hundreds of teens from around the country as they explored the nation's capital as ECE's
guests on the 2011 Youth Tour.
Electric cooperatives, including ECE, sponsor the
tour as an opportunity for students to learn
firsthand about democracy. The youth meet with their
elected officials, tour the national monuments and
museums and enjoy specially-planned events with
their peers.
ECE will sponsor two students on the tour June
16-21, 2012. Completed applications
and essays for the 2012 Youth Tour were due February
1, 2012.
