The Cavallin Family
Jeff and JacLynn Cavallin of
Pine City, Minnesota site a half dozen reasons to
tap into the energy saving tips from East Central
Energy (ECE). As a family of six, with an 10 year
old, 4 1/2 year old twins and a 2 1/2 year old,
their appliances get a workout. That makes them even
more thankful to learn about the Energy Star
appliances and rebates through ECE before buying
their new appliances. "As soon as we moved into our
new home, we learned about these rebates. We saved
$100-150 on appliances that are so smart and
efficient," says Jeff. His wife JacLynn appreciates
their "awesome" washer and dryer. "They are Maytag
Neptune front loaders and I can wash 14 pairs of
jeans at a time," she adds. The washing machine
detects how much water needs to be used, based on
the size of the load. The dryer senses when the
clothes are dry. "They do all the thinking for you.
The washing machine even uses energy efficient soap.
It costs more up front but uses less soap for each
wash - therefore saving us money," says JacLynn. The
Cavallin's fairly new to ECE but experienced an
electric co-op in Hawaii. "It took Hawaii 10 years,
but they finally got a co-op because electricity
costs are so high on the islands," says Jeff. "We
were able to be a part of it for a few months and
after we moved here, we received a capital credits
check. We look forward to the same benefit with East
Central Energy."
