Tree Trust Planting at
Cambridge
May 21, 2008
BRAHAM, MN -East Central Energy (ECE) recently
sponsored its eighth school, Cambridge Middle
School, to receive an outdoor learning center in
collaboration with Tree Trust and other community
organizations.
Working together with staff from Tree Trust, ECE,
and community volunteers, the students planted over
70 trees, shrubs and perennials. By the end of the
day they had created an outdoor learning center to
be enjoyed by the entire school. They learned about
gardening, landscaping and the rewards of hard work.
"ECE's continued sponsorship of this program is a
testament to its mission of enhancing the quality of
life for members. The outdoor learning center will
be there to enjoy for years to come," said ECE
Communications and Marketing Manager Jennifer
Veeser.
East Central Energy is a member-owned electric
cooperative that serves more than 57,000 homes,
farms and businesses in east central Minnesota and
northwestern Wisconsin. ECE also provides Internet
and long distance services.
Tree Trust was founded in 1976, to help reforest the
Minnesota Twin Cities Metropolitan area in the wake
of Dutch Elm disease. It has since added new
programs such as jobs and training opportunities for
low income and special needs youth, landscaping, and
urban and community forestry. Learning with Trees is
a part of the urban and community forestry program.
