Gundersons Win CFL Sweeptakes

Shafer, MN couple wins Home Lighting Makeover Sweepstakes

East Central Energy (ECE) members Lex and Linda Gunderson welcomed a team from ECE to their home on November 26 to receive their prize as first place winners of the Home Lighting Makeover Sweepstakes.

The sweepstakes was sponsored by Great River Energy, ECE's wholesale power supplier, and its 28 member cooperatives. Linda said she was paying their ECE bill online when she noticed the sweepstakes information and decided to enter. A first place winner was chosen from each cooperative, and one grand prize, a $1,000 home lighting makeover was awarded.

After a walk-through lighting assessment was conducted at their home, the Gundersons received more than $250 worth of compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), enough to replace all of the incandescent bulbs in their home. CFLs use 75 percent less energy and last up to 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs.

The Gundersons built their home near Shafer, MN one and one-half years ago. They also save energy by participating in ECE's Storage Water Heating and Cycled Air Conditioning programs.



ECE Energy Services Specialist Milt Gunderson conducted the lighting assessment at the Gunderson home near Shafer, MN. Communications and Marketing Manager Jennifer Veeser congratulated the couple with a basket full of energy-saving items.
